From tech pack to approved sample
Design & tech pack
Before sampling, your garment needs a tech pack — the blueprint that tells the factory exactly what to make.
Factory briefing
We send your tech pack to the sample maker with clear instructions and source any required fabrics or trims.
S1 — First sample
The factory produces the first physical sample and ships it to you for inspection. We review photos and measurements before it leaves the factory.
Feedback & corrections
You try it on, note what needs changing, and we write up a precise correction list to send back to the factory.
Approval
Once you're happy with the sample, you sign off and the factory moves to bulk production using the approved specifications.
Why it matters
A bad bulk order costs more than a good sample
Skipping the sample to save time is the most expensive shortcut in clothing production. A bulk order of 200 units in the wrong fit, with the wrong fabric, is 200 units you can't sell. A sample costs a fraction of that and makes the fix cheap.
We manage the sample rounds, document every correction precisely, and stay on top of the factory — so you don't have to manage the communication yourself. You get the sample, you try it on, you tell us what to change. We handle the rest.
FAQ
Common questions
Why do I need a sample before bulk production?
A sample lets you see, feel, and try the actual garment before committing to hundreds or thousands of units. It reveals fit issues, fabric substitutions, construction problems, and anything that doesn't match your tech pack — while changes are still cheap to fix.
How many sample rounds are typical?
Most brands go through 1–3 sample rounds. The first sample (S1) reveals the biggest issues. The second (S2) incorporates corrections. If further refinement is needed, an S3 is made before bulk approval. We manage each round and document all corrections clearly.
How long does sampling take?
A sample typically takes 2–4 weeks to produce and ship to you, depending on the factory's location and current workload. We'll give you a realistic timeline before you commit.
What do you check when reviewing a sample?
We check measurements against the tech pack, fabric quality and weight, stitching construction, label placement, colourway accuracy, and overall fit. We document everything with photos and written notes before sending feedback to the factory.
Do I need a tech pack before sampling?
Yes — the tech pack is what the factory uses to make your sample. Without it, the sample maker is guessing. We offer tech pack creation as part of our service, so you can start from scratch and move through design → tech pack → sample → bulk production in one place.
